Work is progressing successfully on the industrial wastewater treatment plant at the new Integral Treatment Centre for Non-Hazardous Industrial Waste in Abajas, Burgos province, for the company Depósitos y Reciclados del Norte, S.L. This project has been declared of regional interest by the Castilla y León regional government.
J. Huesa, an engineering company with more than 50 years of experience in the Integrated Water Cycle, was awarded the contract for the manufacture, supply, installation, and commissioning of the WWTPi required for the new Treatment Centre to come into operation, developing the basic and detailed engineering for the treatment plant.
This project, which is planned to be executed in 6 phases, will be used to treat different water flows which are sized for an expected flow of more than 55 m3/day, coming from:
- Leachate from the non-hazardous waste deposit at the Treatment Centre,
- Rainwater and sewage originating at the Centre itself,
- And, finally, organic liquids of low and high pollutant load, from non-hazardous industrial discharges.
In the first phase, a line consisting of pre-treatment, screening and DAF-type physical-chemical treatment is being implemented, followed by reverse osmosis inside a 40-foot sea container.
